  1. Hawker Beechcraft Jets

Hawker Beechcraft Corporation builds Beechcraft Turboprop airplanes to Hawker Business Jet aircraft. Founded in Wichita, KS in 1932 by Walter Beech, Beechcraft built hundreds of staggerwing airplanes for the US armed forces. Following WWII, Beechcraft entered civilian aviation with a single-engine plane best known for its V-tail configuration, the Beechcraft Bonanza, an airplane manufactured since 1947 and enjoys the status of being the longest production run airplane in history. Since its inception, Beechcraft has been based in Wichita, Kansas; however with Raytheon they have worldwide aircraft manufacturing facilities. Wichita is also the home to Cessna Aircraft, as well as the birthplace of Learjet and Stearman.

Beechcraft continued expansion of their aircraft line during aviation’s boom years from the 1950’s through the 1970’s and beyond, developing a line of twin-engine airplanes that started with the very successful Beechcraft Baron, then later evolving into the Beechcraft Queen Air and Beechcraft King Air variants, two of the most popular turboprop airplanes in service today. Walter Beech died in 1950 and the aircraft company continued operations under his wife, Olive Beech, until the company was bought by Raytheon Corporation in 1980.

In 1994, Raytheon merged Beechcraft with the Hawker Jet line they acquired in 1993 from British Aerospace, thus becoming Raytheon Corporate Jets and later, Hawker Beechcraft Corporation after Raytheon decided to use the Hawker name to show the lineage of the Hawker Aircraft. In early 2002, Raytheon announced the return of the Hawker and Beechcraft brands after having marketed them as Raytheon aircraft at the National Business Aviation Association annual convention.

In July 2006, Raytheon announced the sale its jet aircraft manufacturing business to focus on its core business, defense-related systems. Later that year, Raytheon Aircraft Company began a $16 million, 112,000-sq. ft. facility expansion for the Hawker 4000 in Little Rock, AR. This expansion included a 54,000 sq. ft. hangar, as well as additions to existing buildings to provide increased manufacturing capabilities and infrastructure. The following year, a $3.3 billion sale of Raytheon Aircraft Company was completed. The new company was renamed Hawker Beechcraft Inc. It was purchased by the Canadian investment consortium affiliated with Goldman Sachs. Today the company is known as Hawker Beechcraft Corporation (HBC).

In 2007, Beechcraft celebrated their 75th anniversary, which was also the 60th anniversary of the Beechcraft Bonanza; the longest running airplane production of all time. During 2007 & 2008, Hawker Beechacraft expanded their international efforts, opening a new aerospace manufacturing facility in Chihuahua, Mexico. Then, in 2010 they appointed Hawker Pacific Singapore as the first Hawker 4000 authorized service center in Southeast Asia.
