Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. today announced it has developed the first phase of an intuitive mobile application to help Gulfstream operators streamline flight operations.A companion to Gulfstream’s PlaneBook electronic suite of flight crew information, the new Performance iPad app enables a Gulfstream G650 or G650ER flight crew to quickly calculate precise performance data for the takeoff and landing phases of flight, replacing paper charts and manual calculations. The results are displayed in simple, easy-to-understand graphics, reducing the flight crew’s preparation time and workload and increasing their situational and operational awareness. “The Gulfstream Performance app makes complex information easy to consume for the flight crew because it is presented in a clear and simple visual format,” said Derek Zimmerman, president, Gulfstream Product Support. “The accuracy of the data, the intuitive visual interface and the time-saving features make this app unique and invaluable.”

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. today launched Aircraft Ownership Service (AOS), a comprehensive and customizable suite of aircraft maintenance and flight operations services that aircraft owners, flight departments and management companies can tailor to meet their specific needs. AOS, which will initially be available to new aircraft owners and operators, was developed based on feedback from customers, who desire a seamless and simplified aircraft ownership experience. “Aircraft Ownership Service is a customer-driven, comprehensive operational support solution that is the first of its kind in business aviation,” said Derek Zimmerman, president, Gulfstream Product Support. “Its signature feature is flexibility. Enrollees choose from a broad portfolio of services that best meet the needs of their aircraft throughout its lifecycle. They also set the length of the contract term and receive a consolidated monthly invoice.”

Offerings in the Gulfstream AOS program include:
    • Scheduled and unscheduled maintenance parts and labor
    • Technical information (publications and subscriptions)
    • Major vendor support programs integration (engines, auxiliary power units, avionics)
    • On-site operational staffing and support
    • Hangar accommodations

“There is no one better qualified to help maintain and operate an aircraft than the original equipment manufacturer,” Zimmerman said. “This program gives operators another opportunity to leverage the strength of Gulfstream — our extensive knowledge of the business jets we build, our worldwide operational experience, our more than 4,000 Product Support employees and our vast network of customer resources.”

The Gulftsream G500 is soon expected to gain full certification from the FAA. The final aircraft is going to be engaged in F&R (functionality and reliability) testing which is the final hurdle in the certification testing before FAA certification will be granted. FTV4 is conducting these tests and will encompass 300 hours to satisfy the FAA's requirements. Approximately 4,250 flight test hours have been amassed across the five testbed aircraft. The G600 is approaching 1400 test hours and that is expected to hit the market later this year if all goes to plan.

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp., its community partners, program alumni and students recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Savannah-based Student Leadership Program as part of the initiative’s year-end event and graduation.

Founded by Gulfstream in 2008 and now supported by a collaboration of more than 40 businesses and community partners nationwide, the Student Leadership Program is designed to provide students the opportunity to learn more about careers in aviation, science, technology, engineering and math.

The program’s curriculum focuses on developing work readiness, instilling leadership skills and providing educational opportunities, such as tours of local businesses, to help foster engagement and interest among youth. Summer experience trips help enhance career and life development through college campus tours and a leadership and citizenship trip to Washington, D.C. The program also teaches students highly valuable skills needed to succeed in the workplace, including resume-writing and presentation skills.

“The Student Leadership Program is truly making a positive difference in the lives of tomorrow’s workforce. What began as a small pilot program to serve the students of the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System now enlists more than 40 partners nationwide who have invested in the futures of nearly 1,000 students,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. “We hope this critical program will continue to expand and enrich the lives of more students as they explore their potential.”
