New TBM 900 unveiled by Daher-Socata

  1. Daher-Socata Unveils New TBM 900 Turboprop Aircraft

Daher-Socata has unveiled the new aircraft in the TBM series yesterday. The aircraft is really an update to the successful TBM850 and is being called the TBM 900, fittingly. The new aircraft ups on performance, efficiency and comfort. While the new aircraft keeps the same P&W Canada PT6A-66D engine the improved performance stems from the marked upgraded aerodynamic optimization of the airframe and the engine air intake configuration. Another major development is with the propeller as well. There is a new five-blade composite propeller and a redesigned spinner.

According to Daher-Socata the approximate cruising speed is 330-knots at 28,000 feet. There is also a much faster climb to 31,000-feet, taking only 18 minutes, 45 seconds under ISA conditions. With improved efficiency you will expect the range to increase. Range jumps up to approximately to 1,720 nautical miles while carrying five adults. The redesign for the Daher-Socata TBM900 included 160,000 research hours and 200 hours of flight testing over three years, according to Daher-Socata.
