News: First Embraer Legacy 500 Assembled In U.S Flies

  1. Embraer Flies First U.S Assembled Legacy 500
Another milestone was met for Embraer recently when the company flew the first United States assembled Legacy 500 midsize executive jet. The aircraft was put together at Embraer's Melbourne plant in Florida. The achievement comes just eight months after the company assembled the first Legacy 450 at the same Melbourne facility. The Melbourne, Florida Embraer plant has expanded its production capabilities to building the airframer's midsize line jets -the Legacy 450 and 500-. The entry-level Phenom 100 and 300 aircraft are also manufactured at this facility.
  2. Embraer began assembling aircraft at the Melbourne plant back in 2011 with the above-mentioned entry-level Phenom 100. The slightly larger Phenom 300 started manufacture in August of 2012. Then the new midsize Legacy line started mid 2016 with the Legacy 450 in June of that year. The Legacy 500 began assembly in early 2017 at this facility. Cumulatively over the last seven years, Embraer handed over nearly 250 Phenoms and Legacy jets. The estimated worth is about $2 billion. “We are very pleased with yet another milestone for the Legacy 500 and we look forward to delivering this aircraft in the third quarter,” said Embraer Executive Jets president and CEO Michael Amalfitano. “This flight also marks a key milestone for our Melbourne operations, where we expanded our production facility and doubled our footprint.”
