Nextant Flies First Fusion-Equipped Challenger 604 Remanufacturing specialist Nextant Aerospace has flown the first Bombardier Challenger 604 equipped with the ProLine Fusion cockpit. They are calling the aircraft the 604XT (as its remanufactured name) but it is still essentially the Challenger 604 from Bombardier -at least externally-. The Challenger 604 was announced at the EBACE show in May as a definite candidate for the Nextant remanufacture process.
“The cockpit performed flawlessly,” said Nextant vice president of flight operations Nathan Marker. “The Pro Line Fusion cockpit not only addresses pending regulatory and obsolescence requirements that the Challenger is facing, but it also provides the flight crew with the absolute latest in forward-fit technology. The touch-interactive technology is very intuitive and the overall integration provides exceptional situational awareness for the flight crew.” It is expected that the 604XT will continue flight testing until the aircraft it sent to the NBAA Convention in Las Vegas for its first public showing with the new avionics system.
