    From Gulfstream's Twitter...

"The #G700 — like all Gulfstreams — will undergo thousands of hours of testing in our state-of-the-art labs. Our #IronBird and test benches ensure that we know how the airplane and its systems will perform in flight.

Gulfstream’s fleet based at its Savannah, Georgia headquarters has now flown more than one million nautical miles on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). Since 2016, the OEM has used renewable fuel to fulfill its corporate, demonstration, customer support, and flight-test needs. Bombardier recently announced their first delivery to leave the factory with SAF bound for a customer. However, Gulfstream was one of the first to make SAF available for purchase. That has been available from its Long Beach, and now Van Nuys service centers in California.

Gulfstream is still making way in terms of keeping their production open rather than fully closing down during the covid-19 situation. They are also on the 'front-lines' delivering medical supplies like essential personal protective equipment (PPE) and even making 3D-printed medical equipment. "To help address the shortage of medical supplies, we have already donated 3,500 N95 masks and more than 3,100 protection suits to U.S. hospitals and public health organizations," it said. "We have also provided more than $60,000 to Savannah-based organizations working to assist those in need. To support other Gulfstream communities, donations are also being made in Dallas; Long Beach, California; and Appleton, Wisconsin."

Planet Nine Private Air (“Planet 9”), the Van Nuys, California based private charter operator and aircraft management company, is pleased to be adding its tenth managed aircraft – a very late serial number ultra-long range Gulfstream GV (N176SM) – and ninth to its Part 135 AOC this month. It is being readied for bookings from the beginning of 2020.

The exceptionally outfitted aircraft, offering a 6,200 nm range (up to 13 hours’ flying time), is Planet 9’s third Gulfstream model, joining a G650 and G550. Its cabin is fitted with 14 luxury passenger seats, plus a dedicated rest area for crew. Inflight entertainment is accessible via high speed Air-Cell with passengers having the option to use their own devices or connect with the seven onboard Rosen slimline LCD monitors. With a significant baggage capacity of 226 cu ft the aircraft can accommodate up to 25 medium sized suitcases. "The addition of this remarkably high spec Gulfstream GV is an excellent way to round off what has been a successful year for us," noted Matt Walter, Cofounder and Director of Business Development.

Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. recently announced it will expand and renovate its Appleton, Wisconsin, facility’s completions operations, further enhancing the creation and installation of award-winning Gulfstream aircraft interiors. The expansion will ultimately create more than 200 new jobs. "This expansion is another effort in our long-range plan to upgrade and modernize Gulfstream facilities to further support our customers,” said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. “Enhancing the Appleton completions operations is in line with Gulfstream’s culture of continuous improvement and will allow the craftspeople who create Gulfstream’s award-winning aircraft interiors to build on the excellence they already deliver."

The Appleton completions hangar expansion and renovation are part of a collaborative partnership with Appleton International Airport (ATW) and will increase the current space by more than 13,000 square feet/1,208 square meters, bringing the total completions space to 126,500 sq ft/11,752 sq m. The project will enrich safety, quality and efficiency and includes:

    • An upgraded furniture finishing shop to house Gulfstream artisans and the hand-crafted furnishings they build for each customer aircraft
    • Consolidated completions backshops to improve workflow efficiencies
    • Upgraded shipping and receiving capabilities to increase safety, capacity and efficiency
    • Upgraded HVAC systems to increase sustainable operations
    • The project is expected to be complete in the third quarter of 2021 and complements the expansion of Gulfstream Customer Support’s nearby maintenance, repair and overhaul facility in 2019.
