Cessna flies the first production single-engine TTx. The TTx is powered by a 310 hp Continental TSIO-550-C engine that is well able to push the aircraft to 235-knots.

Cessna Aircraft Company, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, today announced that it is making excellent progress toward beginning operations in China through joint ventures to be formed with China Aviation Industry General Aircraft Company (CAIGA) in Shijiazhuang and Zhuhai.

A look at the first production unit of the new and improved Cessna Citation X, according to them, the fastest civil business jet again. Of course you would remember that the Gulfstream G650 took that title from the first generation Citation X. I guess Gulfstream will have alot to say about that banner there.

Cessna looking to increase the range of the new Sovereign more

The $17.8 million aircraft offers customers a package of new upgrades, including a critical 150nm (280km) range increase to surpass the transcontinental, 5,550km (3,440 miles) mark. To achieve the range extension, Cessna replaced the 5,770lb (2,610kg) thrust Pratt & Whitney Canada PW306C turbofan engines with more efficient PW306D models featuring a new full authority digital engine control (FADEC) system. Cessna also extended the wingspan of the new Sovereign by about 2.74m (9ft) by adding winglets. The new aircraft is showing a reduction in specific fuel consumption in flight tests, Reich says, adding that Cessna is also exploring the possibility of extending the aircraft's range beyond the 280km increase goal.

Cessna says it will continue to focus on the Light Jet market despite its heavy saturation. They are saying this despite going into a fifth year of declining demand for Mustangs and the Citation CJ series. Cessna is also opening service centres to support its entire product line-up in Europe, even with the light market performance there "We want to continue to focus on that market," says Kriya Shortt.
