Phenom 300E Offering Ground Power Mode The Phenom 300E light business jet will now be offering a Ground Power Mode (GPM) for new built specimens. Basically it will not be an Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) as is carried on larger aircraft but it will be a mode that allows one engine to be ran at idle power to provide the necessary electricity to run the aircraft’s environmental, lighting and entertainment systems throughout ground operations. In this mode it will not count as flight hours on the engine.
The new capability will be made available free of charge to new customers of the Phenom 300E and through a service bulletin to current Phenom 300E and Phenom 300 owners. The announcement was made during a press conference at the 2018 National Business Aviation Association’s Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (NBAA-BACE), in Orlando, Florida. The GPM conveniently preserves ideal cabin conditions in inclement and even extreme weather as well as lighting to facilitate passenger onboarding, deplaning and baggage handling independent of external power sources.
