Sounds more like a typical internet story, like the sightings of bigfoot or some such thing.

It could possible be true and legal to fly with if in accordance with the CDL (Configuration Deviation List) and if entered in the logbook and signed off for a limited number of flights, we do that all the time, but not with notes to the pax..:D

I certainly would NOT like to look out the wing and see that message written on the control surface. Very disconcerting!

    Who is telling the truth?

The 787 from Boeing had a relatively successful entry into service and ANA -All Nippon Airways- has been singing its praises. Even towards the RR Trent 1000 engines their 787 fleet carries. ANA has reportedly said that "All Nippon Airways says its Boeing 787 fleet logged a 99.3% dispatch reliability rate in its first year..." Isn't that a bit too high of a percentage?

Not surprisingly Rolls Royce joined in on the congratultory wagon by issuing a PR about this which went to the effect, Trent 1000s have delivered a “dispatch reliability of more than 99.9” in the first year. Wow!?!?

Juxtapose those claims with the fact that ANA grounded its fleet of 787s in July because of gearboxes problems on the Trent 1000s. If that is the case then how could the percentage rate be nearly flawless? Just my thoughts! Bear in mind ANA has the largest fleet of 787s in operation at the moment with 16 and some 60+ on order.

So Neil Armstrong may be best known for his exploits in outter space but what about those in our own space? Turns out he had a bigger connection with business jet aviation that I thought.

Apparently he set five business jet records and one of them was highest altitude flown (51,000 feet in a Learjet 28 on Feb. 21, 1979). He also was a spokesman for the recent NBAA/GAMA “No Plane, No Gain” campaign to spur interest and use of business aviation.

NBAA president and CEO Ed Bolen said:

NASA's blended wing-body Boeing X-48 has passed to 100-flight mark, a new high point for unmanned X-planes. The 100th flight was logged at Edwards AFB, California, on October 30, on the aircraft's eighth flight as the X-48C.

    The future of flight, possibly...

Man, that view of the tail really shows the difference between the blended body concept and the traditional flying wing. Hardly elegant, but does make sense.

Now for some really odd news...

Recently released surveillance video shows a detailed view of the final moments of a former SkyWest pilot who stole a Canadair CRJ200 back in July, trying to take off with it but only succeeding in crashing it.Of course after crashing the multi-million dollar jet he which couldn't fly after the port side wing was severed he killed himself in the plane.

Forty-year-old Brian Hedglin — who was suspected in the killing of his girlfriend a week prior — reportedly scaled the gate at St. George Municipal Airport on July 17 before boarding the unlocked airplane. He then proceeded to start the engines, and erratically sped over speed bumps and crashed into more than a dozen cars in a parking lot before clipping the airport terminal building with the jet’s left wing, rendering the airplane unflyable.

Anyone heard of the Cessna Citation Jet III that overran a runway in Sao Paulo at the Congonhas airport? The Tropic Air Citation (PR-MRG) from Florianópolis, overran the runway end at Sao Paulo's downtown airport and crashed down an embankment on to the edge of a busy city street. Apparently a few people were injured in the 'crash'. Thank goodness the plane didn't go any further than that ditch/barrier and into the nearby highway with all those cars passing...

Billy Wayne was apparently forced to land his Cirrus SR22 in the parking lot of a strip club after experiencing visibility problems, reports CBS-42. Wayne, who deployed the Cirrus’s parachute, was credited for his quick thinking in making the landing.

According to an Arizona newspaper, pilots of two Piper Cherokees were happy to be alive after they clipped each other mid-air in the skies above Maricopa, Ariz. Despite heavy damage, both planes landed safely, one at Gila River Airport and the other at a vehicle test track, reports the Arizona Republic.

Now that the election is over, the McDonnel Douglas MD-83 that presidential candidate Mitt Romney used in his campaign has been returned to USA Jet Airlines, reports Blomberg Businessweek magazine. As you expect, the aircraft will get a full cleaning, a new livery and reconfigured seats. Other aircraft you might be interested in know that the Presidential hopeful used were a Hawker 400, a Learjet 35, a Cessna Citation, and an Embraer Phenom 300.

According to ABC News Radio, Lady Gaga raved about a 757 that was given to her to use. I Guess she wanted something smaller! If not buy her own business jet!

Now according to the Osundefender website, a Nigerian Governor is taking stick over his/state's brand new Bombardier Global 5000 business jet. The problem isn't him having one but rather the timing of the delivery of the aircraft. Governor Rotimi Amaechi took delivery of the 45 million dollar business jet at a time hundreds of thousands of residents in his state are displaced by the worst flooding crisis in the state’s history.

Last year Mr. Amaechi traded off the state’s current Embraer Legacy 600 claiming it was too expensive to maintain.
