Film shoot onboard a Turkish Airlines Boeing 787 caused damage to the aircraft. Apparently the film layers in the window melted during the 4 hours of lighting during the shoot. The aircraft was grounded as a result to repair the damage. The aircraft is their first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner which only arrived in Turkey on the 27th of June. The aircraft is expected to fly to different areas in Turkey for crew training purposes.

The Defence Ministry in India has suspended all business dealings with Switzerland-based Pilatus Aircraft Limited for one year. This follows charges of payment of kickbacks in the sale of 75 basic trainer aircraft for the Indian Air Force. The order issued by the vigilance department of the ministry on July 12 said that business dealings with Pilatus will remain suspended for one year or until further orders for violation of the Pre-Contract Integrity Pact (PCIP).

Franky Zapata has flown across the English Channel on his 'Flyboard Air' hoverboard. He has been working on this board since 2016 and intends to make it available for persons as a means of personal transportation and to get around the idea of learning to fly or being transported in an aircraft in the traditional sense. 93mph or fly at nearly 10,000 feet carrying a useful load of 225 lbs? Thats what Frank Zapata claims his hoverboard can do. At least he can claim that he successfully crossed the English Channel finally after his first attempt in July did not work out.

Around this same time last year an Airbus A320neo operated by Air India landed on the wrong runway in the Maldives. The runway that the aircraft touched down on was still in a state of construction. The aircraft involved in the incident at the time was an A320N registered VT-EXL and was carrying 114 persons. An investigation was launched into the circumstances. Investigators found that the aircraft was neither cleared to, nor vectored to, any of the approach fixes associated with either of the two VOR procedures for runway 18. Upon landing and rolling out the aircraft ran over a long white cloth which got snagged in the jet's port-side main gear and caused alot of damage.

Virgin Atlantic wanted to retire their Airbus A340 fleet by the end of October but an external issue is preventing them from putting them down by that date. The Norwegian 787 engine failure over Italy is to blame for this, why? Rolls Royce is the manufacturer of the engines that the Norwegian 787 in question was using and Virgin also uses Rolls Royce engines on their A340s. Norwegian is getting priority to get their powerplants fixed and Rolls Royce parts have been taken out of the pool forcing Virgin to keep their A340s for a couple months longer.

A French Bee A359 had to execute a go-around at Paris-Orly earlier this month. What's so odd about this? Planes perform this every now and then for various reasons. The aircraft involved was registered as F-HREV, a leased A359 from Aer Cap. French investigation authority BEA states that the approach was aborted owing to windshear. But during the missed approach procedure, it says, 'deviations' were observed in both heading and altitude. What is interesting is that a low-speed alarm sounded.

Ever hear of lie-flat beds in economy? Perhaps no! Air New Zealand is working on a concept that would give a few passengers in economy the chance to be able to lay out fully flat on extreme longhaul flights like their proposed Auckland to New York service. The Economy Skynest will put six lucky passengers who book this in a pod where they can stretch out and be comfortable. It isn't ready to be implemented as yet but Air New Zealand said they will make a final decision after evaluating the performance of the Auckland to JFK service.

A SAS Boeing 737 carrying 158 passengers landed in Oslo, Norway at 00:01 LT. The aircraft identified as LN-RGG flew back to Norway from France but the issue with landing in Oslo at one minute after twelve is that the passengers missed the curfew by one minute. All 158 passengers onboard the SAS flight returning from Nice will now be required to quarantine for ten days in line with government regulation. The passengers are under instruction to quarantine at their homes and to avoid using airport hotels. According to simpleflying.com, Norway is carefully monitoring any increases in coronavirus cases on a country by country basis. The government is using a formula that puts any country with 20 new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people over the past 14 days on a Red Zone list. This list dictates that anyone flying to Norway from those countries must complete a 10-day quarantine. Upon landing, the pilot had announced they touched down at 00:00 when in-fact they landed at 00:01 forcing the passengers to quarantine for 10 days.

Boeing has ordered that eight 787s be grounded because of structural deficiencies to the fuselage. It is suggested that manufacturing issues compromised part of the fuselage near the rear of the aircraft type of the recently manufactured planes. The grounding affects 787s from United, Air Canada and Singapore Airlines. The area specified near the rear of the fuselage is deemed not able to withstand the maximum stress during operation and could lead to a failure. The grounded planes must be inspected and repaired before returning to service.

The United States has issued a seizure warrant for two of Roman Abramovich's jets, the Boeing 787-8 BBJ (P4-BDL) and a Gulfstream G650ER (LX-RAY). The aircraft are subject to "seizure and forfeiture based on probable-cause violations of the Export Control Reform Act (ECRA) and the recent sanctions issued against Russia."
