The aircraft will make stops in several key countries as it makes its way to South Africa. Following an aggressive demo schedule commencing down the West Coast the M600 will also stop in Nigeria, Angola, and Namibia, following which it will stay in South Africa for a couple of days performing demonstrations, and then travel north along the East coast of Africa, making stops in Malawi, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Egypt. Word is that Piper has grounded the M600. The mandatory service bulletin grounds 32 M600s delivered to customers, plus six more in possession of dealers, Piper CEO Simon Caldecott says. The issue is based on a perceived flaw in a component. Piper discovered a flaw in a component delivered from a supplier in final assembly, he explains. A section of one aft wing spar fell “below required design measurements in one area,” he reveals. The supplier lacks records of detailed measurements of delivered aft wing spars by section, he says. As a result, Piper believes it is necessary to ground the fleet until each aircraft can be inspected.

Piper is hailing its flagship M600 as a 'true business aircraft'. They have not one but two examples of the type at the ongoing European Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (EBACE). The M600 is a $2.8 million dollar aircraft and is powered by a Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A-42A engine. The M600 is "a significant step forward for Piper Aircraft" and a "true business aircraft" according to chief executive Simon Caldecott. It is apparent that more people are viewing as a "highly attractive platform for Part 135 operations".

Piper Aircraft announced today that it is sponsoring a team of dedicated aviators for the 2021 Air Race Classic. The Piper sponsored team, named “Tres Aviadoras” consists of three passionate aviators who seek to inspire and champion women in aviation. This year’s race will be an Air Derby format, where participants are able to choose their own 5-leg, one-day route. Team members, Elise Wheelock, Captain Olga Custodio and Captain Tammie Jo Shults, will launch their route from Boerne, TX the second week of June. The team will fly a normally aspirated, piston powered, Piper Pilot 100i – the latest addition to the Piper trainer product line up.

The oldest of its kind, the Air Race Classic has long been the lead event in women’s air racing. With pilots ranging in age from 17 to 90 years old, this diverse group of participants represent a wide range of backgrounds, career groups, and flight experience. Each of these participants playing a critical function as role models for future aviators. "Role models, like Elise, Tammie Jo and Olga have each lead the charge with their own list of “firsts” in our industry", said Jackie Carlon, Senior Director of Marketing for Piper Aircraft. "This team truly embraces the legacy that past female aviators have created and they themselves have helped pave that way for a new generation of aviators. Young females need to continue to see more examples of successful women throughout our industry – flying aircraft, working on airplanes as aviation maintenance technicians, and leading global airline operations from the C suite to inspire and motivate them – it is up to us to continue to mentor the next generation of aviators."
