Tennessee saw some heavy tornado activity and it left a trail of destruction. The Nashville John C. Tune Airport was particularly hit hard with aircraft in hangars being damaged. The Contour FBO which is the only FBO at the field sustained damage. The airport has been closed until March 10th to facilitate debris clean-up.

A Gulfstream G-IV became a casualty when its tail was sheered off by a passing Airbus A330 operated by Thai Airways. The accident happened in Laos to a parked G-IV registered M-YWAY. None of the 79 passengers and 13 crew onboard the A330 were injured. The A330 sustained damage to the impact area of the outer-board-most leading edge of the starboard wing.

Parking slots are really rare at the moment on international airports.

A British Airways A350 was suppost to fly back to Heathrow from Dubai on the 12th of April. While taxying out he got "entangled" with a Emirats 777. Nobody got hurt but both aircraft will stay for sure on the ground for a while.

The second one is less funny and really unbelievable. It happened already on the 20th of March 2019 but the final incidence report by the French BEA-E was published now.

A 64 year old civil employee of a French armament factory (Dassault) got a free backseat ride as a present by the French Air Force in a Rafale Double Seater. He never asked for that ride and actually he was pretty much afraid of it and he never wanted a ride in a combat aircraft. Only because of social pressure he did not turn down the present.

    Now the chain of events:

    - he never saw a flight surgeon
    - only for hours before the flight he was shown to a normal doctor which cleared him for the flight with the
    exclusion of negative G maneuvers.
    - but nobody felt responsible to tell the Rafale pilot about it
    - no ejection seat ground training and no cockpit briefing was conducted
    - The flight was sheduled at the Saint-Dizier-Robinson French Air Force Station
    - The passenger was strapped into the rear seat, now being really afraid with high blood pressure heart beat
    - The pilot in command strapped into the front seat and never talked to his passenger
    - The pilot in command never checked his passenger being strapped in properly
    - The pilot in command never briefed his passenger about the planned profile of flight
    - The passenger was not strapped in properly and by far not tight enough
    - His G-suit did not fit properly and was not connected
    - His helmet and oxygen mask did not fit properly and the chin strap was not secured
    - The passenger now being really afraid had no clue what would hapen to him
    - The canopies were closed and the engines were started

The Pilot taxied to the runway, advanced full afterburner and pulled without warning into a 47 degree of full afterburner climb. After reaching some altitude, the pilot levelled off with negative g, again without warning his passenger. During the negative g maneuver, the passenger being only strapped into the ejction seat very loose, started floating above his seat. The passenger being under full panik now, grabbed the next thing he could get hold off. Guess what, the lower ejection seat handle.

    - the rear canopy fired
    - the front canopy fired
    - the rear seat ejected
    - the rear seat destroyed the ejection seat sequencing computer
    - the front seat failed to eject
    - during the ejection the passenger lost his helmet and mask
    - the passenger landed with his parachute but was injured
    - the pilot in command now sitting on an armed but failed ejection and without canopy
    - he finally landed the aircraft safely
    - he unstrapped from this hot seat without assistance and ground egressed

Is there anything more that could get have gone or made wrong on a single flight ?
Lessons learned: Propper Planning Prevents Poor Performance or in other words: You do not need an enemy, if You have allies like this. This was pure luck, that nobody got killed.

A Pakistan International Airlines Airbus A320 crashed at Karachi today. The aircraft was coming into land and subsequently crashed killing most onboard and on the ground in the impact area. Officials so far confirm 80 persons killed between the crashed aircraft and persons on the ground. The aircraft was carrying 99 passengers and crew when both engines allegedly failed. Reports suggest the pilots were trying to pull-off a belly landing.

An Airbus A321 operated by Vietjet (Vietnam low cost carrier) suffered a runway excursion on landing at Tan Son Nhat International in Ho Chi Minh City. "The airplane, passengers and crew are all safe," says VietJet. "All passengers were disembarked and transferred to the airport’s arrival terminal as normal." The aircraft left the runway and ended up in muddy ground conditions where it finally came to a stop. Reports suggest that the conditions near the airport at the time involved rain and thunder storms.

A Dash 8-400 operated by Bluebird Aviation crashed today in Somalia at a place called Beledweyne. The aircraft was chartered by the UN to make cargo movements. We are not sure of the fate of the crew onboard but unconfirmed reports are suggesting the crew managed to escape before the plane caught fire. The registration is 5Y-VVU.

Appears that an Ethiopian 777 freighter caught fire while on the ground in Shanghai at the Pudong International Airport. Photos of the incident suggest that the fire burned through the roof of the fuselage of the aircraft lending to the loss of the jet. The aircraft reportedly arrived at Pudong from Brussels and was scheduled to depart for Sao Paulo, Brazil. The aircraft involved in the blaze is a relatively new freighter of just 5 years with registration ET-ARH.

A Boeing 747 freighter wearing Atlas Air colours but operator for DHL suffered strikes to 3 of its 4 engines when it attempted to land at Pudong in Shanghai, China on the 5th of August. The aircraft in question is N408MC and was arriving from Seoul-Incheon. Reports suggests upon landing on Runway 17R at Pudong the aircraft struck engines 1,2 and 4 (portside outboard, portside inboard and starboard side outboard) but continued roll-out as normal. Two days after the incident the aircraft was still on the ground at Pudong.

An Air India Express Boeing 737 crash landed on the 7th of August killing the pilot. The aircraft broke into two pieces with the forward cockpit area detaching from the rest of the fuselage as a result of the crash. The Boeing 737-800 was flying from Dubai to Calicut with a reported 191 passengers and crew aboard. The weather at the time was heavy rain and more-than-likely contributed to the aircraft skidding off the runway after touchdown. The aircraft is identified at VT-AXH, a Boeing 737-800. After skidding off runway 10 it then went down an embankment where it broke into two pieces. The aircraft was repatriating persons who were stuck in other countries as a result of the pandemic. At least 19 are dead and 22 critically injured from the flight.

An Omni Air Boeing 767-300ER jet that was on charter suffered a collapse of its main gear at the Baneasa Airport in Bucharest. The aircraft was there during a tech stop for fuel after flying from Afghanistan enroute to Washington. The aircraft had just landed in Bucharest when not too long after the port-side main gear collapsed (See video below). The aircraft is registered N423AX and had 49 passengers and 15 crew onboard at the time of the incident. No one was reported injured as a result of the issue. Everyone got off the aircraft safely via the emergency slides.

A US Marine Corps (USMC) Lockheed Martin F-35B stealth fighter and KC-130J tanker collided and crashed during a mission over Southern California yesterday, September 29th. The aircraft were conducting a refueling exercise when the accident occurred. "At approximately 16:00 it was reported that an F-35B made contact with a KC-130J during an air-to-air refueling evolution, resulting in the crash of the F-35B. The pilot of the F-35B ejected successfully and is currently being treated," said the air station. "The KC-130J is on deck in the vicinity of Thermal Airport. All crew members of the KC-130J have been reported safe."
