Perfectly built and even more perfectly flown. The flight picture is absolutely realistic. Coordinated formation flying with RC planes really is the noble art of RC flying. I take my hat off for those RC pilots and the builder of this planes. The paint sheme shows the special farewell painting of the fighter bomber wing 34 at Memmingen, Bavaria. The military airbase is meanwhile closed and the airfiled converted into the Memmingen Allgäu Airport. But the builder of those perfect RC planes were cheating!!!!! These RC F-104 G planes are equipped with twin engines (most likely there were no bigger jet engines available for this project). By looking into the nozzles, you can tell. "Single pilot, single big engine (J-79), single big gun (M-61 Vulcan)", anything else is rubbish . Sorry, I could not resist.
That G650 is gorgeous!!! Given the size, I was surprised to see it is electric. Impressive performance. Love the Jeti Tx with telemetry!!
This is really a complicated RC plane. On most variable wing sweep models, you just see hard wings. Means, the wings have no movable surfaces and the plane is only steered by tailerons (compinatiom of elevator and aileron) and may be rudder(s). But this perfectly build little plane has full width flaps and spoilers, tailerons and twin full surface rudders. Flaps on a variable wing sweep airplane means, when the trailing edge of the wing wants to enter the wing pockets in the fuselage, the flaps need to be raised prior moving the wings backward, otherwise they will be damaged, when hitting the fuselage. And any movement of the wings will be accomodated by pretty large trim changes, as the center of gravity and center of pressure changes. On real variable geometry aircraft this is done by some complicated electro-hydraulic control and augmentation systems (Command and Stability Augmentation System, CSAS) as part of the primary flight control system (PFCS). On the Tornado aircraft for example, all of this is part of the fly by wire system. On the much older F-14 this is really a electro-hydraulic control system. If on the Tornado this system is degraded by any failure within the system down to mechanical mode, the aircraft is pretty hard to control. This is concidered a major emergency and the crews are pretty happy, when being safe on the ground. On a little RC plane this must require a pretty advanced computer assisted remote control system. I would like some of our RC specialists (Carl ?) giving some education on this systems. I have no clue how this works. Anyhow, congratulation to the builder and pilot of this perfect model. HTMO9
