Remember the quoted news piece? That was when the UAE took delivery of their first Globaleye. News is that this air force recently received its second GlobalEye surveillance aircraft from Saab.

It look almost cast in stone now that the Swedish will keep the Gripen C/D models in the air force fleet for years to come. In a near 200-page document the government outlined this rationale on October 14. The bill still has to go into law but having gained cross-party support, the bill is scheduled and expected to become law on Feb. 1, 2021. Known as Totalförsvaret (total defence) 2021-25, the bill covers the largest increase in defense spending in Sweden for many decades. Funding levels are to increase by SEK27.5 billion ($3.1 billion) compared with 2020.

Appears that Hungary has ordered two Embraer KC-390 Millennium aircraft. Deliveries are expected o commence in 2023. "Following the procurement of personnel air transport capabilities in 2018, we will see the arrival of KC-390 aircraft to Hungary in 2023-24, able to deliver large military loads in an operational environment, as well as providing air-to-air refueling services. We are acquiring a multi-role transport fleet for the Hungarian Defence Forces to fulfill the widest possible range of tasks within the national framework, in a sovereign way," said Gáspár Maróth, government commissioner responsible for defense development.

The French Navy has chosen the Falcon 2000 LXS base model for their Albatros patrollers. 12 units of the type will be ordered by the French Defense with seven of the aircraft will be ordered under the current five-year military acquisition bill, and will be delivered from 2025. The rest of the planes will be acquired in another bill. The first aircraft is to be built and equipped entirely in France. What is interesting is the other aircraft are to be built as "green" airframes in India. This is part of the offsets associated with the Indian Rafale purchase.

During a visit to the Dassault Aviation plant in Seclin, in northern France, the French Minister of the Armed Forces, Florence Parly, recently announced the upcoming notification of a contract for the "Albatros" Maritime Surveillance and Intervention Aircraft (AVSIMAR) program, which will be based on the Dassault Aviation Falcon 2000LXS. In accordance with the multiyear military spending bill, the contract will involve an initial order for 7 aircraft, with deliveries to start in 2025, out of a planned total of 12. Dassault Aviation and the dozens of French companies associated with the Falcon programs would like to thank the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, the French defense procurement agency (DGA) and the French Navy for once again expressing their confidence in us. The Falcon 2000 Albatros will feature a multifunction radar under the fuselage, a high-performance optronic turret, observation windows, a SAR (Search & Rescue) kit release system and dedicated communication systems. In line with the aeronautical maintenance transformation policy initiated by the French Ministry of the Armed Forces, the Albatros contract commits Dassault Aviation to a guaranteed availability clause, favoring industrial support in close cooperation with Navy personnel for 10 years.

"The Falcon 2000 Albatros is a high-performance aircraft equipped with a mission system and sensors of the latest generation. From the Falcon 20 of the U.S. Coast Guard to the Falcon 2000MSA of the Japanese Coast Guard, as well as the Falcon 200 Gardian and 50M of the French Navy, we have extensive experience in maritime surveillance, in addition to our long experience in maritime patrol with the Atlantique", said Eric Trappier, Chairman and CEO of Dassault Aviation. “Several countries have shown interest in these aircraft, which provide an effective response to the considerable challenges of homeland protection and maritime security and government action at sea: fighting pollution and trafficking, surveillance of borders and exclusion zones, fisheries policing, search and rescue at sea, etc. It is only fitting that France, which has the world’s second largest exclusive economic zone, should be at the forefront in the use of this type of aircraft."
