Bombardier today announced the latest advancements in its comprehensive Smart Link Plus connected aircraft program. Effective immediately, operators of Challenger 300 and Challenger 350 aircraft can reserve their exclusive appointment at a Bombardier Service Centre for the installation of the free-of-charge* Smart Link Plus box as early as mid-2021. Installations for additional Challenger and Global aircraft to follow. With Smart Link Plus, Bombardier customers will have the unique ability to make real-time data-driven decisions in-flight to effectively dispatch, troubleshoot and track their aircraft service needs. The Smart Link Plus box is an advanced Health Monitoring Unit developed exclusively for Bombardier aircraft in collaboration with GE Aviation. It generates crucial aircraft data that enables flight and maintenance crews to quickly and efficiently prioritize and proactively troubleshoot essential fault notifications on aircraft with in-flight alerts, increasing an aircraft’s operational efficiency.

"Bombardier business aircraft customers deserve the most effective and comprehensive technology available to maximize the value of their precious aviation assets – and Smart Link Plus delivers on this promise," said Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Executive Vice President, Services and Support, and Corporate Strategy, Bombardier Aviation. "As this innovative program continues to evolve, more Bombardier aircraft customers will benefit from the attributes it provides, helping them make concrete maintenance decisions by leveraging fleet-wide big data."

Looks like Bombardier tweaked their website very recently. It has a different layout and possibly was done in conjunction with them fully closing the transition into a only-business jet manufacturer after selling off its rail division to Alstom. In other news you can look out for the fourth quarter performance as well as full-year performance for Bombardier in 2020 on the 11th of February when they have their Conference Call. A live webcast of the call and relevant financial charts will be available at https://ir.bombardier.com.

Bombardier announced today that its demonstration aircraft operations team has once again earned the International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) Stage 3 accreditation for its ongoing commitment to the implementation of a robust safety culture. Stage 3 designation is the highest level of recognition issued by the International Business Aviation Council (IBAC), and this year’s award marks the second consecutive time that the Bombardier demonstration aircraft team has earned this designation. The team first achieved Stage 3 certification in 2018, IS-BAO’s highest safety rating for developing and maintaining an effective Safety Management System (SMS) for its demonstration aircraft. The designation, given out every three years, continues to shine a light on the organization’s overall commitment to an outstanding safety culture for its customers and employees.

"Bombardier is committed to ensuring all levels of its operations meet the highest safety standards, and this recognition from IBAC aptly reflects the high safety standard displayed by our demonstration aircraft operations team," said Andy Nureddin, Vice President, Customer Support, Bombardier. "Our goal is to meet and exceed safety protocols and professionalism throughout all of our operations, and we will continue to ensure our SMS program exceeds all industry safety standards."

Yesterday an estimated 2,200 unionized workers went on strike in Toronto at the Downsview plant that is utilized by Bombardier and De Havilland Aircraft Canada (DHC). "We will remain at the bargaining table with both companies as the strike action is ongoing," said Jerry Dias, president of Unifor, the national union that represents both groups. "[We] will continue to make every effort to reach a fair settlement but we have a number of key issues to resolve with both employers."
