A company called Xclusive Jets appears to have stopped operations recently. Perhaps this UK company would be the few or only to cease business around this time of year.

The Super bowl in the United States is usually a huge driver of business aviation traffic in the state it is being hosted in that particular year. This year was a bit of an exception with bizjet numbers being hugely down compared to past Super Bowls. This year's Super Bowl was held in Tampa at the Raymond James Stadium and there are a couple airports in the general area of this stadium. The three major airports in that area include Tampa International (TPA), St. Petersburg-Clearwater International (PIE), and Tampa Executive (VDF). Together they logged just under 700 bizjet arrivals for the first week in February (1-7). There were three times the arrivals at various airports around the Miami Area for the previous Super Bowl and that should give you an idea. Of course there are a number of factors that might have contributed likely the effects of restrictions in response to the Covid-19 situation. The stadium was allowed to be only half-filled which means that not as many tickets would have been sold, affecting some other potential bizjet travelers.

Former U.S President Donald Trump's VVIP Boeing 757 has not seen action in a long time. Naturally because he had access to other aircraft and had to use them as President. Now that he isn't president...the aircraft is still not in use.

The Garmin Autoland system has been a feature on a couple executive turboprops and the Cirrus SF50 Vision Jet now and the technology has won the very prestigious Robert J Collier Trophy. "The Garmin Autoland system marks a significant improvement in civil aviation,” affirmed NAA Chairman Jim Albaugh. “Its ability to take over an airplane with a disabled pilot and land it safely will save many lives in the future. It’s a remarkable technical achievement and clearly merits the Collier Trophy."

If you didn't know, Wheels UP is going public. Ahead of going public, the company announced a number of partnerships it made that would be beneficial to its customers. With Porsche Cars North America (PCNA), Wheels UP members will have access to Porsche Drive, which is PCNA’s on-demand vehicle subscription and rental program in select cities. For those Wheels Up members, the program’s $595 activation fee will be waived for the subscription offering and a 10% discount will be applied to short-term rentals.

Through a new partnership with American Express, the credit card company’s platinum card members will receive discounts and flight credits on new Wheels Up Core and Connect memberships, as well as access to its partner offerings and member-only tentpole and regional art, sports, and entertainment events.

"Following our record-breaking first quarter, we continue to see unprecedented demand within the Wheels Up marketplace, from both existing members and an influx of new customers," said Wheels Up founder and CEO Kenny Dichter. "We are excited to be moving forward with this vote and look forward to continuing on our path of innovation as a public company, expanding the addressable market for private aviation, and connecting more customers with aircraft than ever before."

Jet Aviation Engineering and Design are working with five students from TU Delft to imagine what the ultimate passenger experience of the future might look like. To innovate, we have to imagine a potential future, and who better to do that than the people who will be a part of that future? Jet Aviation in Basel is collaborating with a team of students from different disciplines studying at TU Delft to develop a concept of a futuristic VIP aircraft interior which meets the needs of the future customer by providing state-of-the-art technology and luxury while utilizing the most sustainable alternatives to conventional designs.

"The project is a fantastic way to get insight from other industries, and other experts, on how we might imagine the VIP cabin experience of the future," says Jeremie Caillet, vice president completions. "Our ability to innovate is key to staying relevant in an ever-evolving world, where customers expect more and more of their ‘home comforts’ while in the air. We are committed to remaining the partner of choice for our customers, and we recognize the need for a strong focus on innovation in VIP completions to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving world."

WheelsUP is continuing its growth with the acquisition of Part 135 operator Alante Air Charter. This now adds 12 Citation jets -that range between CJ3 and CJ4 models- to the WheelsUP fleet as well as 39 pilots.

"We have partnered with Alante Air as a trusted third-party operator, which has served our members well during a period of unprecedented demand in private aviation," said Wheels Up founder and CEO Kenny Dichter. "This acquisition further improves our operational efficiency and ability to offer members and customers access to a larger fleet of light jets, arguably the most in-demand category of aircraft in the industry."

Thrive Aviation will take possession of their first long-range bizjet aircraft in the form of a Gulfstream G600. It is expected to take delivery of the landmark aircraft this Summer. "We're not only thrilled about our new relationship with Gulfstream but also elated to bring yet another option to our clients and partners in a market that is starving for inventory," said Thrive CEO Curtis Edenfield. The long-range segment is new for their owned fleet but they are also expanding on the Super midsize segment after ordering a few Citation Longitudes from Cessna/Textron Aviation. The addition of the G600 will bring its owned and managed fleet to 18. "Our entry into this new aircraft class and our blossoming partnership with Gulfstream is a testament to what we're building here at Thrive," Edenfield added. Currently in the fleet you will find models that comprise of Citation Longitude, Citation Sovereign+, Citation XLS+, Citation CJ3+, Citation M2, along with the Dassault Falcon 2000.

Vistajet isn't just stopping at the Bombardier 7500...they want the newly announced 8000 too. The charter company already has quite a few 7500s in its fleet expecting to take delivery of another 7 before the year ends. This would bring their 7500 fleet to 17. Once that happens they will be the largest operator of the Global 7500 in the world. Vistajet has an impressive fleet that includes other Bombardier jets. 10 Challenger 605s, six Challenger 850s, seven Global 5000s, and 29 Global 6000s. Vista is eying the Global 8000 in the future but it is possible they may go the route of upgrading the 7500s to 8000 specifications which will become available after the 8000 comes into service.
