News: NASA Supersonic Demonstrator In Final Assembly

  1. QueSST Demonstrator In Final Assembly
    The collaboration between NASA and Lockheed Martin to produce the QueSST (Quiet SuperSonic Technology) Demonstrator to prove the technology that would aid in the aircraft going supersonic over land and resulting in just a simple 'thump' is making its way to final assembly. The X-59 QueSST demonstrator is being assembled and then will be powered on and have those systems initially tested before the aircraft is moved to Lockheed Martin’s facilities located in Fort Worth, Texas, for structural testing.
  2. Thereafter, the first flight of the demonstrator is anticipated sometime in 2022. With the nature of the project and the heavy research involved the aircraft has taken a long time to get to this stage. In fact it was back in 2018 when the aircraft started construction. However, the precursor to all of this has been intensive development for more than a decade to this point. Below is a look at the aircraft being assembled compliments Lockheed Martin.
