Flight testing of the Airbus A321XLR is expected to commence next year ahead of the planned 2023 service entry. Structural assembly on the first of the three test aircraft is currently being completed. The structural completion of MSN11000 in the Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Hamburg follows the recent assembly and equipping of the Major Component Assemblies (MCAs) and their subsequent delivery and introduction on schedule into the FAL in November. These MCAs notably included (but were not limited to): the nose and forward fuselage, delivered from Saint Nazaire; the center and aft fuselage assembled in Hamburg; the wings from Broughton; the landing gears supplied by Safran, and the vertical and horizontal tailplanes from Stade and Getafe respectively.

Airbus has delivered the last commercially available A380 to Emirates Airlines. This brings the total of completed A380s to 251. Of that number the Middle Eastern airline received 123 units. This alone tells the story of the A380 for it not been for Emirates being its largest customer the aircraft perhaps would have gone out of production much much earlier.

Air New Zealand has taken delivery of ATR's landmark 1600th ATR prop. Stefano Bortoli, CEO of ATR said: “We are of course proud of this achievement and I recognize the hard work and dedication of every ATR employee, past and present, in getting us here. As we have recently celebrated 40 years of making a difference, it is the perfect moment to think about how the ATR has supported communities throughout New Zealand. Passengers really depend on our aircraft to access opportunities to do business, study or simply see their loved ones. An aircraft needs to be efficient and versatile to thrive in New Zealand, so it makes perfect sense to build a fleet of turboprops. And while today there are many ATR’s in New Zealand, there is now also an important part of New Zealand in many ATRs, thanks to their input into the RNP AR 0.3/0.3 approach technology. Meaning that operators all over the world can benefit from yet another innovative product evolution.”
