Embraer has delivered its 1,500th Crop duster/agri Ipanema aircraft. The aircraft was received yesterday by the rancher Carla de Freitas, owner of Agropecuária Bela Vista, based in Vilhena in the state of Rondônia. "It is an honor to receive the 1,500th Ipanema from a genuinely national company like Embraer, which develops technologies to improve production techniques in Brazilian agriculture. Embraer is a company that demonstrates its commitment to Brazil's technological, agricultural and environmental agenda, with an aircraft powered 100% by ethanol," said Carla de Freitas. "Furthermore, being a woman receiving an aircraft from a female pilot demonstrates the company's value and care with the gender inclusion theme."

Flexjet has now entered the helicopter business with the acquisition of Associated Aircraft Group (AAG). However, it will be an exclusive. Flexjet will offer complimentary helicopter hours to its Gulfstream G650 fractional owners through the service and will sell add-on fractional, lease, and charter access in Flexjet-branded Sikorsky S-76 helicopters.

It would appear that Norway has cancelled its NH90 Helicopter order. The were anticipating to receive 14 units of the type for use in coast guard and anti-submarine applications. The order was originally made for the 14 aircraft in 2001. Norway is now seeking full compensation/refund on their unfulfilled investment.

EVS systems could be coming to helicopters very soon. We see some of these systems installed on some large-cabin business jets but it is not an application we have seen on helicopters. EVS stands for Enhanced Vision System and through Universal Avionics they are working with some law enforcement agencies to have the system installed on their helicopters. Universal is supplying its EVS4000 multispectral Enhanced Vision cameras for installation on eight new Airbus H145 helicopters for the Bavarian Police.

Airbus Helicopters has delivered its 7,000th helicopter from the Ecureuil family. The light single-engine H125, which was assembled in Marignane, France, was handed over to Blugeon Hélicoptères, a French company specialised in sling work at high altitudes. This new H125 will join Blugeon´s existing fleet of five H125 helicopters located at three different bases in the French Alps and a fourth one in the Pyrenees. Each of them flies an average of 600 hours per year performing passenger transport, power line surveillance, filmmaking, preventive avalanche maintenance, mountain rescue, and large-scale hoisting.

"Blugeon is proud to take delivery of this new H125, the sixth one in our fleet. I’m especially proud of this shared milestone as this particular helicopter is the 7,000th Ecureuil manufactured by Airbus," said Christian Blugeon, CEO and founder of Blugeon Helicoptères. "I have been flying the H125 for more than 20 years, and have accumulated a lot of experience with this helicopter with which we have already flown almost 45,000 hours. It is a key element for our development strategy," he added.

Helicopter news out of China... the country certification body has certified Avicopter’s AC352 super-medium, twin-engine helicopter. It is a Chinese-manufactured variant of Airbus Helicopters H175 and has been awarded airworthiness certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China. The 7.5-ton AC352 can carry up to 16 passengers and has a maximum range of 458 nautical miles. Under Avic's agreement with Airbus, the AC352 can be sold only in China and a small number of countries close to China where Airbus would be unlikely to sell any H175s.

Users of the downtown heliport in Vancouver, Canada will be pleased to note that the rehab work that was being done to it is now completed and ready for use again. Helijet International subsidiary Pacific Heliport Services has completed a CA$1.7 million upgrade to the floating public-use heliport in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia. To fund the project, The British Columbia Airport Assistance Program (BCAAP) provided about 75 percent of the money for the project and Pacific Heliport Services funded the rest.

A runway project wrapped up a month early — and under budget — at Vidalia Regional Airport (KVDI) in Georgia, an accomplishment airport officials are rightfully proud of. The airport received $2.2 million through the American Rescue Plan last year to update the runway, airport manager Billy Ragan said, noting the airport originally applied for the federal funds because of increased traffic from business jets. He added there were several concrete panels with cracks that needed replacing, which was the most expensive part of the project because of the high price of concrete.

The Royal New Zealand Air Force’s No. 3 Squadron is at the heart of a major achievement in military aviation: it is home to the first all-female team to operate the NH90 in New Zealand. The fleet includes eight NH90 helicopters, which have been in full service since 2015. With missions ranging from Army battlefield support, to search and rescue, to amphibious operations, this crew is also one of trailblazers, paving the way for many others in military aviation.

Flight Lieutenant (FLTLT) Nicole Brooke, Flying Officer (FGOFF) Hayley Vincent and Flight Sergeant (F/S) Jen Hart are part of the all-female 3 Squadron crew of the Royal New Zealand Air Force. In operational theatres where every second counts, agility is their motto. "Crews are expected to operate in a dynamic and changing environment, with training flights often encompassing multiple disciplines and flight regimes", said FLTLT Brooke. In these conditions, solidarity is also a key driver for the team. F/S Hart explains: "We are also very lucky that we have a close-knit unit who are all friends with each other, this enables us to know how each other operates and creates great efficiencies and crew resource management dynamics."
