The Paris Air Show for 2025 kicked-off yesterday at Le-Bourget, France yesterday. Here is Day 1 highlights from Airbus perspective.
Textron Aviation received a purchase agreement from Algerian-based Tassili Travail Aérien (TTA) for two Cessna SkyCourier turboprop twins, marking the first sale for the type in Africa and also for an aeromedical-equipped variant.
Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) and ATR have agreed to work together to develop propulsion systems for a new generation of turboprop regional airliners. The partnership was announced on Monday at the Paris Air Show.
LOT Polish Airlines has placed a firm order with Airbus for 20 A220-100s and 20 A220-300s, marking the first time Poland’s national carrier has selected Airbus aircraft as part of its fleet modernisation. The agreement which could foresee a future increase to 84 A220 aircraft was announced at the 2025 Paris Air Show. “Today’s decision is about the future. The Airbus A220 family aircraft, which will start joining our fleet in 2027, open up new opportunities for development and growth – key pillars of our strategy. These modern, efficient, and passenger-focused aircraft will allow us to compete effectively in the European skies, strengthen our position as the preferred carrier in Central and Eastern Europe, and prepare LOT for its role as a leading airline at the Central Communication Port,” said Michał Fijoł, LOT Executive Officer.
Airbus and OCCAR have reached an agreement with the A400M launch nations to secure production for the programme for the foreseeable future, improve the cost of operations, and jointly develop new capabilities. Through the agreement, France and Spain stated their intention to advance four and three A400M aircraft respectively in their delivery schedule. As key enablers, Airbus has committed to work on operational cost improvements through maintenance optimisation and efficiency measures, and make A400M future developments faster and more cost-effective, enhancing Europe’s defence capabilities and ensuring its strategic autonomy in air transport and mobility. Through the agreement, both Airbus and OCCAR will review the industrial status of the programme on a yearly basis, giving the A400M production set-up stability to pursue the evolution of the platform and open export opportunities. Among these new capabilities, Airbus is already looking into developments like standoff jamming, payload increase to 40 tonnes, mothership for remote carriers and firefighting - developments that will further widen the A400M applications and are key to the present and future global requirements for both current and future operators.
Embraer has experienced some successes at the PAS25. Embraer gained orders through the U.S regional market. 60 E175 E1s have been ordered for Sky West Airlines which has partnerships with Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines and Delta Airlines . 50 E175s could also be converted through purchase rights agreements. The first aircraft is expected to be delivered in 2027. In South Africa their regional carrier Airlink appears they have taken an order for 10 Embraer E195 E2s which will be delivered via lessor Azorra. Three of these aircraft will be delivered to the airline this year while the remainder be delivered by the end of 2026. Bridges Air Cargo, a Maltese-based carriers is taking two new E190F converted freighters. The aircraft are expected to be delivered through a U.S based lessor called Regional One.
Daher used the 2025 Paris Air Show to showcase the delivery ceremony of the 600th aircraft in its TBM 900 series. It was a TBM960 which is the owners latest aircraft for this client. The owner hails from the U.S and had a TBM 930 and 940 prior to his latest acquisition.
While Airbus did not take any 'blowout' order numbers from the PAS25, they still walked-away with something. Starlux Airlines of Taiwan placed a firm order for 10 more A350-1000 widebodies, joining the Taiwanese carrier’s all-Airbus fleet of A350-900, A330neo, and A321neo airliners. Starlux has 30 aircraft on order, including A350F freighters, in addition to the A350-1000s. Egyptair disclosed an order for six more A350-900s, bringing its total order tally for the type to 16. MNG Airlines put in for two A350F freighters.
