That could well been terrible for this C-160 Cargo/transport. Bad pilot judgement? http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=HZzfV_ayKpc&feature=endscreen
Familiarization flights are generally to get the pilot acquainted with a new aircraft. The Cirrus line of a/c are very different than most single-engine light aircraft. The systems and equipment are much more advanced.

Another casualty this time with an A330 that crashed trying to land in Tripoli. The aircraft belonged to African carrier Afriqiyah. However, this incident happened back in May 2010 and they are only now finding out what happened or what caused the crash. It seems it was caused by premature descent. http://bcove.me/gs47zxtl
Seems like a Fokker 50 turboprop aircraft has crashed in the Eastern Congo in Africa. The aircraft is alleged to have been operated by Compagnie Africaine d'Aviation. While the number isn't clear at the moment it is believed that the crash in the Democratic Republic of Congo killed between 30 to 50 persons. The aircraft is said to have crashed in heavy rain just short of landing. "We don't yet know the number of victims because we're still looking to get the [passenger] manifest from Lodja. But we estimate there could be between 30 and 50 deaths," Julien Paluku, governor of North Kivu province.
Three people are dead after a U.S Navy EA-6B Prowler crashed in Washington State on Monday. The local Sherrif County confirmed the three occupants of the aircraft were dead. The aircraft went down while on a routine low-level training flight. The EA-6B is a twin-engine electronic warfare aircraft manned by one pilot and two to three electronic countermeasures officers to jam enemy electronic signals. ***
I am now learning of some helicopter, possibly an experimental helicopter that crashed at a car park near an executive airport in Kendal about 30 min ago. N3101 is the tail number from what I gathered. There are two yellow tarps on the ground, let's hope that doesn't mean fatalities but usually it does.
Okay, here is the story... http://www.nbcmiami.com/news/local/Helicopter-Crashed-at-SW-124th-Ave-and-SW-130th-St-Authorities-201312111.html
Crew blamed for Antonov An-24 crash in Donetsk After a lengthy investigation Ukrainan investigators have concluded that the crew of the Antonov An-24 aircraft were responsible for its crash and subsequent loss of that crew. At the time (February 13, 2013) the airport at Donetsk was experiencing fog that was causing low visibility. However, the pilots were given accurate and timely meteorological information and landing systems at the airport were operating correctly. Despite the alleged correct information being handed down to the pilots, the aircraft struck the ground with a 48-degree right bank which tore off the wing, says Ukrainian vice-premier Oleksandr Vilkul and the An-24 rolled inverted before coming to a halt. Five persons were killed in that accident.
Apparently a Boeing 737 operated by Indonesian carrier Lion Air, crashed into the water near the runway in Bali. Officials initially said the plane overshot the runway and fell into the sea, however, a spokesman for Lion Air, said at a news conference that the plane hit the water before making it to the runway. The weather was cloudy with light rain at the time of the crash. ***
Hilarious how the TV news hacks are reporting this as having a "large crack". The plane is BROKEN people!!! Kelly
large crack? lol. It seems though that alot of 737s have suffered structural failure in that area though, like as the photo depicts, after they have crashed that is.
Here is something on that Lion Air 737 crash... http://www.bbc.com/travel/blog/20130417-the-disturbing-science-behind-the-lion-air-crash
Pilot shoots himself during flight A 44-year-old pilot crashed his Van's RV-4 kit-plane at Laughlin Bullhead International Airport in Arizona recently. The extremely bizzare incident happened sometime between 6 and 7 a.m., before the airport's control tower opened. No one appeared to have seen anything as there were no witnesses to the event. The pilot was identified as Thomas Joseph. NTSB investigator Patrick Jones told a local newspaper that he could not recall any other incidents involving in-flight suicide by gunshot.
