For those readers who may not be familiar with Maeve Aerospace, it was a Dutch start-up company that was pursuing bringing a hybrid-electric low-emissions regional airliner to market. $23 million dollars (€20 Euros) was being sought to be able to continue Maeve's operations and to fund the next round of development. However, the next round of investment from potential investors was deemed 'too risky' and as a result did not net financial support.

The start-up was still relatively small employing around 24 employees but had big ambitions to create sustainable aviation via the hybrid-electric avenue. Maeve Aerospace appeared to be on the right track even though it was early days in its development trajectory. The design for the aircraft changed several times over the lifetime of the program. The aircraft itself was envisioned to carry between 76 and 100 passenger in a single-aisle configuration. The range was anticipated to be approximately 1,450 nautical miles with a 76-seat cabin arrangement. With higher density of 90 seats, the range was projected to drop to around 950 nautical miles. Part of the allure of this platform was the promise to reduce both fuel consumption and emissions by as much as 40% as compared to other regional jet options.

A flurry of endorsements, MoUs and quasi-commitments from airlines and other operators lined the company's prospective future exploits. For example in 2024 Maeve signed at the Farnborough Air Show to collaborate with Pratt & Whitney Canada on propulsion related work. Additionally they agreed to work with MHI RJ Aviation Group later that year. The following year in 2025, the start-up had partnership from Delta Airlines which was quoted as saying it was, “Maeve’s North American global airline partner.” Even Japan Airlines subsidiary, JAL Engineering announced a MoU that was signed at the Paris Air Show in June 2025 that involved providing technical support including collaborative design work for the aircraft, customer support and operations management in the future.. SkyWest in September 2025 signed an agreement to invest with Maeve while additionally was to be the exclusive launch customer for the airframer's aircraft.
