Eve Concludes Hover; Low Speed Tests; Prepares For Transitional Flight Tests Another eVTOL program currently in advanced stages of development is continuing to chip-off successes along the process to full certification validation. The Eve eVTOL program by Embraer in Brazil is another company that has roots in aviation that is continue to diversify and branch out into other forms of aviation and aerospace. Honda is working on their eVTOL program and they have a business aviation arm in Honda Aircraft Company. Eve which is another eVTOL program in development is from the the Embraer company that manufactures regional jets as well as executive jets.
Eve has been systematically conducting test flights in specific blocks or batches where are designed to test, understand and validate of specific phases to keep the test program within a specific realm. This creates and consolidates on accuracy of the tests in the program. For example, on May 21 Eve Air Mobility said that it concluded the hover and low speed block of testing. This was advanced on full-scale Eve demonstrators.
The next major step in their block testing approach will be towards transitional flights in July/August. However, the an accumulation of flight tests that validated stability and maturity of the hovering and low-speed characteristics of the test aircraft to this point. The test flights are typically short with the longest lasting 3 minutes and 48 seconds and the highest known flight was 215-feet in altitude since they have been focused on hover capabilities.
“Across 59 flights, we have confirmed stable hover performance and predictable control behavior within the envelope, while expanding our understanding of loads, aerodynamics, propulsion and energy management, key foundations for the transition phase and the certification path ahead with the conforming prototypes,” says Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve. These flights represent over 2:27:33 of accumulated flight time. For more information: Eve Air Mobility São José dos Campos State of São Paulo Brazil www.eveairmobility.com ***
