Something didn't go very right for this Airbus A330 starboard engine today at Manchester Airport...The aircraft was apparently bound for Dominican Republic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=PS1YAX70edc
Funny enough it has been revealed that this same very aircraft has had engine problems 3 times in succession late last year, Oct 26, Nov 9 and Nov 17 and now today again.
Check this one out... http://www.wjla.com/articles/2013/06/delta-flight-1763-goes-off-runway-at-reagan-national-90528.html
More on that Thomas Cook A330-200 with the engine malfunction yesterday at Manchester. According to media reports, the A330’s right hand engine (Trent 772) failed, with fire fighters arriving on the runway as a safety precaution. The aircraft was transported back to the terminal, from where passengers were asked to disembark while the engine and brakes were inspected by engineers. The runway was temporarily closed, with some flights diverted to Liverpool John Lennon Airport as a result. Thomas Cook organised a replacement Airbus A330-200, which departed five hours after the initial incident. “We can confirm that an incident took place at Manchester Airport regarding flight TCX314 during take-off to the Dominican Republic. The aircraft developed an engine fault and has returned to stand,” a spokesperson for Thomas Cook Airlines told the media. "As a precaution, the airport emergency services attended the aircraft - but at no time were passengers or crew at risk. We’d like to thank our customers for their patience during the delay to their flight,” the airline continued.
Emirates Boeing 777 and a UAE Air Force Hawk in Near-Collision The Emirates Boeing 777 jet was climbing out on its way to Istanbul,Turkey when it came alarmingly close to hitting a UAE Air Force Hawk jet trainer. Apparently they were just some 3.5 seconds away from colliding with each other. The real danger happened back in February 2013 when the Emirates Boeing 777 and the UAE Air Force Hawk were separated by just 1,800 feet of horizontal airspace and some 100 feet of vertical airspace.
Venezuela said on Thursday it had found the crashed plane of Italian fashion and hotel executive Vittorio Missoni that went missing after taking off from the Los Roques archipelago in the Caribbean six months ago. The small, twin-engine aircraft carrying Missoni, 58, his wife Maurizia Castiglioni, another couple, a Venezuelan crew member, and the pilot disappeared after taking off on January 4. "The plane that crashed on January 4 has appeared," Interior Ministry spokesman Jorge Galindo said, confirming later that it was Missoni's plane. Galindo gave no more details of the location or condition of the plane. Earlier this year, Italy's agency for flight security, ANSV, said its investigation had found that the airline that owned the plane was not fully licensed to operate and that the pilot's license had expired more than a month before the flight. Missoni was the oldest child of the founders of the fashion house famous for its exuberantly coloured knits, featuring bold stripes and zigzags. He was co-owner with siblings Luca and Angela, who handle the technical and design sides of the firm. (Reuters)
It seems that historically that July is usually a bad month for aviation and this July is proving to be no different. Of course we had the Asiana Airlines Boeing 777-200LR at crash landed in SFO the other day and now another crash involving a twin turbo Otter killing 10 persons in Alaska.
Nose gear wouldn't deploy on this MD 82 so they had so skate it in... https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=70LYVJEHxZ0#at=109
By now everyone would have heard about that SouthWest Boeing 737 that had the faulty nose landing gear when landing at La Guardia yesterday. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-southwest-plane-20130723,0,1568429.story
A look from inside the above pictured SouthWest 737 that its nose gear failed. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=558217704243136&set=vb.35056649428&type=2&theater
Not sure that the nose gear failed: Rather they landed on the nose gear, which is not a good idea and the mechanism was never designed to take that kind of a load so it collapsed Backward, not forward where it is supposed to retract. Soo, not a collapse per se, but failure caused by abuse, just like when you drive your car into a brick wall..

The airport operator says passenger traffic was not affected by the event. German police have also been at the site, in a cargo section of the airport, to help establish whether there was any criminal link to the blaze.
