It appears as if this year's ABACE is going to be slightly bigger than 2014's edition. Last year there were approximately 38 aircraft on static display. This year the number is looking to be around 40 jets with an expanded range of rotor craft (helicopters and the like). Expect to see pretty much all the major business jet manufacturers there. The show is starting tomorrow the 14th of April and will run through to the 16th at Hawker Pacific’s facility at Shanghai’s Hongqiao Airport.

Gama Aviation partners with Hutchison Whampoa on Hong kong based business jets. The first two aircraft managed by Farnborough, UK-based Gama Aviation’s new joint venture with Hutchison Whampoa, Gama Hutchison, will be Hong Kong-based Bombardier Globals, the companies announced yesterday at ABACE 2015. The aircraft owners were not disclosed. Gama Aviation CEO Marwan Khalek said the Asian executive jet market is, “geared toward larger aircraft, with just over a quarter [26 percent] of the current fleet comprising either heavy jets, such as the Global 5000, or jet airliners,” he added. “We are confident that we will be able to grow our managed fleet in the region and continue to offer our customers market-leading aircraft management, maintenance and support, as well as aircraft charter services, in future.”

Andrew Winch of Andrew Winch Designs, a London based studio that focuses on design of luxury yachts, business jets and residential properties just unveiled a new interior design specifically for the Boeing Business Jet and Airbus Corporate Jet market. The interior is simply called Project Mayfair and takes its inspiration from some of London's most bespoke and luxurious hotels and properties. They launched this new interior in conjunction with CBAJet at the recently concluded 2015 ABACE. To get just a slight idea as to the luxurious affair going on in this interior... the Mayfair interior’s visual styling features dark high-gloss veneers, golden onyx, Qing upholstery and leatherwork, satin almond gold fixtures and Loro Piana cashmere. When dealing at this bespoke level of luxury, clients can choose their own combination of materials and textures obviously.

Boeing [NYSE:BA] Business Jets (BBJ) announced today that the company is studying offerability of a BBJ Combi, allowing customers to have a split configuration of both passengers and cargo at the same time. The study was announced at the Asian Business Aviation Conference & Exhibition (ABACE) in Shanghai. The BBJ Combi would be a modified version of the current BBJ Convertible, a product based on the 737-700C that also features a large cargo door on the left-hand side of the forward fuselage, enabling the loading of cargo onto the aircraft's main deck. “We are very excited about the possibility of a BBJ Combi,” said David Longridge, president of Boeing Business Jets. “We currently offer a product that can be configured for all passengers or cargo and we think that the BBJ Combi could be the next step and a great addition to the BBJ family. It would offer our customers increased flexibility for cargo capability while still being able to accommodate passengers. We think it would be a natural fit for the Chinese market.”

Aerion announced at the on-going 2015 EBACE that it has begun taking orders for the new Aerion AS2 supersonic business jet. Since the order books are opened, a price is available. It appears this new jet will be costing an astronomical 120 million and that is just for the first 50 slots. Among the most expensive business jets to-date is the Gulfstream G650... going anywhere from 60 to 65 million and above.

Bombardier Business Aircraft released its annual 10-year forecast for the private aviation market at the 2015 European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva. Current economic conditions and geopolitical issues in some markets such as Latin America, China and Russia, have had an impact on order intake levels industry-wide. Despite these short-term economic fluctuations, Bombardier Business Aircraft remains confident in the potential of the business aircraft industry with a strong outlook for long-term drivers of business jet demand, such as wealth creation and globalization of trade. With this long-term view in mind, Bombardier Business Aircraft predicts a total of 9,000 business jet deliveries from 2015 to 2024 in the segments in which Bombardier Business Aircraft competes, representing approximately $267 billion US in industry revenues.

The overall market for business aviation continues to show encouraging signs of improvement. Macroeconomic indicators for 2014 were generally stable, with growth in 2015 projected to be similar to the previous year. In 2015, the world GDP is expected to grow by 2.7%, with higher growth expected thereafter. “With 9,000 business aircraft deliveries expected in the next 10 years, the private aviation industry continues to grow stronger,” said Jean-Christophe Gallagher, Vice-President, Strategy and Marketing, Bombardier Business Aircraft. “Bombardier continues to be well positioned for long-term market leadership and remains at the forefront of innovation and technology with the industry’s widest portfolio of business jets, including the Challenger 650, Global 7000 and Global 8000 aircraft.” Bombardier Business Aircraft expects to deliver 210 business aircraft in 2015. Industry deliveries are expected to increase slightly in 2015 from 2014 based on the delivery guidance of manufacturers and new aircraft programs. Bombardier Business Aircraft predicts North America will account for the greatest number of new business jet deliveries between 2015 and 2024 with 3,900 aircraft, followed by Europe, which remains the second largest market with 1,525 deliveries between 2015 and 2024.

Embraer's Legacy 450 debuted to the world at the 2015 edition of the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE). Marco Túlio Pellegrini, who is the President & CEO at Embraer Executive Jets said (in paraphrase): “The Legacy 450 and the Legacy 500, were presented together for the first time at EBACE, break paradigms in business aviation, offering premium comfort with a standup cabin, flat floor and outstanding performance.” “The Legacy 450 has the largest cabin in its class and is the first jet in its category to replace conventional controls with digital full fly-by-wire technology. This aircraft is a flawless combination of technology and design, which defies every definition of a mid-light jet,” added Pellegrini.
