Cirrus eyeing Vision SF50 jet certification

  1. Vision SF50 Type Certification Topic of Meeting with FAA

This week, the Cirrus Vision SF50 certification team will meet with the FAA to hold a Type Certification Board Meeting at their Duluth headquarters Tuesday through Thursday. This is the first significant meeting with the FAA since the announcement in May that the program received full funding from parent company CAIGA to achieve FAA type certification.

This meeting marks a major milestone in the Vision certification program, as it centers around establishing the regulatory requirements that will be applied to it in order to achieve an FAA Type Certificate. Earlier this year, the FAA issued a revision to Part 23 with a significant impact on light jet certification. This meeting will focus on the impact of that rule change on the work that had previously been accomplished.

Following this meeting, Cirrus will be able to finish developing the testing and analysis plans needed to complete certification and enter production. This will help them to remain on schedule to begin production of the Vision in 2015 as planned.
