  1. Daher Socata To Build and Certify Airbus' E-Fan Electric Aircraft
The E-Fan electric aircraft launched to the public with much fanfare earlier in the year has now gone into another gear with the announcement that Daher Socata is going to be in on the build. The turboprop airframer has signed on with Airbus' subsidiary group member Voltair to build and certify the Airbus Electric E-Fan. The intention of the E-Fan 2.0 as it is being called is to be an aviation trainer type aircraft as well as a kind of testbed for electric technologies for future Airbus jets. Daher Socata under agreement with Airbus will have a pretty large presence in the build of this aircraft. From work on the electric engines, the capacity electric batteries to flight testing and certification. Now that the agreement has been made, Daher Socata and Airbus will work together for about a year-and-a-half on studies relating to the E-Fan 2.0 before real build work begins. It is anticipated that this aircraft could be sold in the U.S but no price-point has been mentioned.
