  1. DELETE Facebook!
As responsible members of the internet community, we feel the need to help our members protect their interests and personal information. Many of you may have heard the news that an extremely popular app – Facebook – has been secretly collecting private and personal information through users mobile phones. Facebook has been collecting call logs and text logs from some user phones, then selling that information to 3rd parties who “target” both you and your contacts.

Elon Musk has deleted the Facebook pages for Tesla and SpaceX. Following in his footsteps, we have deleted the Facebook pages for YachtForums and JetForums. We hope others follow suit. This social media platform is...

    • Collecting metadata of your cellular calls and text messages you send and receive!
    • Mining and selling your personal information without your permission!
    • Micro-targeting you based on browsing interests to subliminally sway your opinion.
    • Requesting you to send naked pictures of yourself under the guise of protecting you!
    • Assigning employees to help other nations influence the democratic process.
The information Facebook collects on you is sold off to 100's of companies and agencies, some not so benign. Think about this, one day your browsing interests or posts could be used to deny healthcare, employment or acceptance into communities or schools. It's difficult to speculate how your information could be used, but behavioral pattern algorithms could target you, your friends or your family! And if you think the actions of your children or your friends on FB have no bearing on you, think again!

    What to do...

    1) The safest option is to DELETE Facebook, Facebook Lite, and Facebook Messenger from your devices. We have deleted the pages for both YachtForums and JetForums. We realize that not everyone will do this, so we offer these additional recommendations:

    2) Do NOT share your contact list with any app.

    3) Android phone users are particularly vulnerable due to the open nature of the architecture and cooperation from google.

    4) Check your Facebook account settings in the app. This is a complex and changing process – they don’t necessarily want you to know how to turn this off. You’ll have to browse their menu for security settings. If in doubt, turn it “off.”

    5) Check your phone settings.

    6) Keep your phone’s operating system updated.

We urge everyone to choose other ways to connect!
