Drones for personal use are everywhere but the implementation of these flying devices on a commercial level is a headache all over the world. Private drone use in particular is the sector that creates is bad name for the overall community of drone flyers with many sightings and interference around many airports. Recently though, UPS and CVS made the first residential drone delivery. It made two stops, a private residence and then a retirement home. The drone hovers around 20-feet agl and then lowers the packages via a cable. UPS is operating the drones under Part 135 certification after receiving approval from the FAA a few months ago.

Bristow on Tuesday announced it placed deposits for early deliveries of five Elroy Air Chaparral VTOL cargo drones. This is just to have them introduced earlier than anticipated. The company has already signed a letter of intent to preorder 100 Chaparral systems in July 2022. The move ensures Bristow will receive some of the first commercially certified Elroy aircraft off the production line and will add the first VTOL cargo models to its aircraft portfolio. Rather than just being a helicopter company it will be more akin to its current description of itself as a Vertical flight solutions provider.

Airbus has now entered into the field of drones/UAVs. With their experience with the high-flying Zephyr, they are looking to build on this and produce a line of craft dedicated for military use. "Airbus U.S. Space and Defense is uniquely positioned and passionately driven to provide trusted and affordable stratospheric deep sensing and network extension capability to our Warfighters," said retired U.S. Army aviator Brian Zarchin. "With ongoing great power competition, it’s critical that we do our part to help deter threats and, in crisis or conflict, present our adversaries with multiple dilemmas. Our new business line is laser-focused on helping the DOD solve its toughest UAS challenges, from surface to stratosphere."
