  1. Bombardier Global 7000 Goes Close To Mach 1
Canadian airframer Bombardier is proud about the performance of the Global 7000 program so far. One aspect of the program that has them beaming is that the first FTV of the Global 7000 test regime - C-GLBO - went very close to the speed of sound recently. The 7,400 nautical mile aircraft reached as fast as Mach 0.995 on a recent mission when they opened up the speed envelope. However, the aircraft is expected to operate at a maximum operational speed of Mach 0.925.
  2. So far there are two FTVs in operation with the second joining the flight test regime just on March 4th. “Our flight-test vehicles continue to show a high degree of maturity in testing, dispatching twice daily in many cases,” said Michel Ouellette, senior vice president of the Global 7000 and 8000 programs. “We have strong momentum in the program right now, and we are on track for entry into service in 2018. FTV1 completed its maiden flight in November 2016…and, to date, has achieved approximately 200 flight hours.” The second aircraft is dedicated to testing aircraft propulsion, electrical and mechanical systems. Service entry of the Global 7000 is expected in the second half of 2018.
