  1. Bombardier Global 7000 Progresses; 8000 Doubtful
Canadian airframer Bombardier announced the Global 7000 and 8000 almost in the same breath and the industry was expecting a development and certification program of both of them almost around the same time you would have seen with Embraer and their Legacy 450 and 500 models and even Gulfstream with their G500 and G600 models. The situation has not worked out exactly as planned for Bombardier regarding the 7000 and 8000 Global programs running smoothly together at least.
  2. While the Global 7000 program is expected to be certificated this year and also enter service, the long-legged Global 8000's upcoming existence remains more and more doubtful as time passes. Thin orders, uncertain certification schedule and undefined need for the aircraft in the market at present are all factors that has Bombardier on the back-foot. They are focusing their efforts on bringing the Global 7000 to market and then the 'possibility' of the 8000 in the future. At an Investor meeting last year Bombardier Business Aircraft president David Coleal said the Global 8000 accounts for, “a very, very small percentage of our backlog”.
