  1. Boom Selects Greensboro, NC For Manufacturing Facility
Boom Supersonic has announced that it selected Greensboro in North Carolina as the site for their manufacture of the Overture supersonic jet that is presently in development. More specifically, the company choose Piedmont Triad International Airport to be the site of that full-scale manufacturing facility. Selecting the site for Overture manufacturing is a significant step forward in bringing sustainable supersonic air travel to passengers and airlines," said Blake Scholl, founder and CEO of Boom Supersonic. "With some of the country's best and brightest aviation talent, key suppliers, and the state of North Carolina's continued support, Boom is confident that Greensboro will emerge as the world's supersonic manufacturing hub."
  2. To give an idea as to the planned scale of the factory, the Boom site will encompass 400,000 sq ft for the factory and sit on 65 acres of land at the Piedmont Triad International Airport. This is the intention of Boom supersonic but another supersonic company Aerion -which is now defunct- got to this stage of breaking ground to build a 300 million dollar manufacturing facility in Melbourne, Florida. That company folded without public warning. If Boom supersonic is successful in building out this infrastructure and seeing the Overture to market the potential for job creation in the North Carolina area will be great. 1,730 jobs are predicted by 2030. "It is both poetic and logical that Boom Supersonic would choose the state that's first in flight for its first manufacturing plant," said North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper. "Like the success of the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk, this innovative company will succeed by transforming passenger air travel with speed and sustainable energy." Groundbreaking on this new project is expected to happen later this year.
