First Flight Successful For Falcon 10X The first flight for any brand new model is usually a momentous occasion for its airframer. This was the scene for Dassault Falcon as the company embarked on the first flight to kick-off real world flight testing towards full certification. This is a big deal for Dassault Falcon as this is their full push to place themselves much higher on the totem pole of ultra-long-range and widebody business jet manufacturers. The Falcon 8X put Dassault Falcon in the 6,500 nautical mile territory. However, Gulfstream's G650ER is capable on its upper-end of 7,500 nautical miles while the Gulfstream G800 is the longest-range business jet at 8,200 nautical miles at MACH 0.85. Bombardier's Global 8000's range is 8,000 nautical miles. This is the competition Dassault has been facing and the Falcon 10X represents its current best effort with a 7,500 nautical mile range.
However, the Falcon 10X has the largest cabin of any purpose-built executive jet (not inclusive of commercial VIP conversions) which will lead to numerous cabin customization layouts for customers. The first flight took place on June 19th, 2026 which represents the commencement of the flight test campaign. The airframer says that the campaign will eventually be comprised of 4 aircraft. All aspects relating to the flight deck and cabin systems will all be evaluated for functionality and reliability as well as flight characteristics and performance as the flight envelope is expanded.
