Bombardier Challenger 650 Gains EASA Certification Bombardier’s updated version of the Challenger CL605 has been given the green light by the European Aviation Safety Agency. The Challenger 650 features a new interior in the passenger cabin and the pilots benefit from new avionics and upgraded engines that provide approximately 5-percent more thrust over the previous model. The Challenger 650 features two GE CF34-3BMTOs with around 9,220 lbs of thrust. With these engines, the 650 can fly approximately 4,000 nautical miles.
The aircraft is also pretty nimble at take-off offering a shorter run-up distance and increased payload performance. The Challenger 650 was certified by Transport Canada a couple months ago and now it has been given the green light by Europe’s safety Aviation body. The EASA validation will allow for the European debut and deliveries to clients from this important aviation sector.
The Challenger 650 has upgraded avionics as previously mentioned and so in the cockpit is the Bombardier Vision flight deck, a customized variant of the Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 suite. EASA certification was one of the last major safety bodies to cross for the Challenger 650 as the aircraft got the nod from the U.S Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) last year.
