  1. Embraer Expects EASA Approval For Legacy 500 Steep Approaches

The Embraer Legacy is soon to have another approval under its belt. The Brazilian company is expecting to have steep approach certification for the brand new Legacy 500 from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). It will also be gaining certification from the London City Airport as that airport offers a pretty steep approach. The pending certification allows for approaches up to 5.5 degrees. The midsize eight seater executive jet already has EASA certification overall but for operations into high-angle descent airports like London City and others, they need separate approval for that.
  2. The midsize Legacy 500 executive jet as well as its new slightly smaller sister - the Legacy 450 - are expected to cop approvals by early next year. Embraer suggest that the aircraft can handle glideslopes as steep as 7.5 degrees. It's not just London City that has a steep approach airport but Lugano-Agno and Sion airports, in Switzerland do too. The EASA approval would open up this point to operators of this executive jet. Once the EASA approval is attained it would stack as the sixth Embraer business jet to be granted such certification.
