AIR ONE eVTOL Takes Off On Test Flights AIR has announced that its eVTOL vehicle called the AIR ONE has taken off on its first test. If you have been following the multitude of eVTOL news pieces we have been formulating in recent years then you arefamiliar with the hover test which is integral to understanding the craft's dynamics. Hover tests validate that the craft can hover and be stable during hover as well as garner data on energy consumption -very important for an all-electric craft-. AIR ONE is a full-scale prototype and is being tested in Israel.
The craft is a two-person eVTOL and it is being targeted for relatively short A to B commutes. In an example the company gave, the AIR ONE is anticipated to be able to fly from Westport, CT to New York a distance of about 49 miles in 25 minutes. They suggest a similar distance via vehicle will take 1 hour and 20 minutes. Maximum flight time with the AIR ONE is 1 hour. recharging from 0 to 100% takes 1 hour and 20% to 80% takes 30 minutes. Top speed is touted to be 155 mph and cruising at 100 mph. It gives the craft a 110 mile range AIR plans to expand to full flight envelope testing throughout 2022.
