Citation Ascend First Production Unit Rolls Out Expected to gain Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval towards the end of this year, the first production Citation Ascend has been rolled out of the facility. This aircraft model -which is the latest iteration of the very popular 560XL series from Cessna- was introduced to the business aviation industry back in 2023 during that year's European Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (EBACE).
The Citation Ascend made its first flight in mid-2024 and has been under testing since then. When this aircraft comes into service it will basically replace the Citation XLS+. Modern comforts like a full-size airstair, an externally serviceable lavatory, single-point refueling, and an upgraded Honeywell RE100 (XL) auxiliary power unit that can be left unattended while running. The aircraft will be equipped with 19 USB charging ports and three universal power outlets.
"It is your craftsmanship that continues to make milestones like this possible," said Todd McKee, Textron Aviation senior v-p of integrated supply chain. "By infusing new technology and bringing new features to the market, we continue to drive the future for us to build these legendary aircraft."
With more than 1,000 delivered throughout the past 25 years, owners and operators consistently choose the Cessna Citation 560XL series for its unparalleled combination of performance, comfort, ease of operation, range of mission capabilities and favorable operating efficiencies.
