  1. First U.S PPL Made On An All-Electric Aircraft
The first person to earn their Private Pilot License in U.S Aviation on an all-electric aircraft has been accomplished. Shane Fisher is the name of the student pilot who flew his check ride in a Pipistrel Velis Electro. The flight took place on March 6 at Right Rudder Aviaton’s flight school at Florida’s Inverness Airport (KINF). The Pipistrel Velis Electro is the worlds first fully-certified electric aircraft.
  2. "This is a fantastic accomplishment for both Shane and the aviation industry as a whole, as this major milestone demonstrates the exciting possibilities and reality of electric aircraft in the training market here in the U.S.," Right Rudder said in a statement released Friday. Speaking of possibilities...remember Textron Aviation recently closed on the acquisition of Pipistrel in order to get into the electric market. In the future this will also permit Textron to provide electric trainers for the flight-school market in the United States under its Textron eAviation banner.
