Phenom 100 Flight Deck Upgrade To G1000NXi Ready In early December, the Garmin G1000NXi received approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as an upgrade for the Prodigy-fitted cockpit of the Phenom 100. Now that the green-light has been given owners and operators of the Phenom 100 can visit select Garmin Dealers and Embraer Service Centers to have the upgrade executed. The STC for the Phenom 300 (with the Prodigy Displays) should be coming soon in the new year.
What are the advantages of having the new G1000NXi installed in your Phenom 100? New screens that have much faster processors. This is great because rendering of maps will be faster and smoother. The LED-backlit displays are always nice to view offering clean and bright emission. The display intensity can also be turned down with more precision for night flying and they run cooler, emitting less heat. Installation is also faster because they are designed to fit into the same space as the predecessor flight deck as they have the same connectors and size. On the software side of things, the added features are numerous. The split-screen view on the MFD allow maps and charts to be displayed simultaneously is just one feature.
