Gulfstream Dispells Rumours About G280 Future Existence There has been a swirling of rumors concerning the Gulfstream G280 Supermidsize jet. As a result Gulfstream is reiterating its full commitment and resources to the G280. Rumors have been going around for a while now regarding the future of the super midsize jet. Whether it concerned pulling the plug on the program or replacing it with an entirely new program. The G280 in fact is split between Gulfstream and Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI). Gulfstream suggests that many of those rumors are being pushed by their competitors.
It is no secret that the G280 is a highly capable aircraft but it is also no secret that the jet sits in stiff competition in that super midsize segment. It faces fierce competition from the likes of Bombardier, Embraer and even Textron Aviation's Cessna. The Embraer Praetor 600, Cessna Citation Longitude and Bombardier's Challenger 350 class all sit in this market segment. "Our commitment to the G280 remains strong. The rumours are⦠not true," Gulfstream president Mark Burns said today. For more information: Gulfstream Aerospace 500 Gulfstream Road Savannah, GA 31407 www.gulfstream.com ***
