  1. Raytheon; Hermeus Partners On Quarterhorse
Forging strategic partnerships is vital through the developmental stages of a new project especially when it is as wide-reaching as what Hermeus is endeavouring in -hypersonic aircraft-. Hermeus will be partnering with Raytheon's RTX Ventures for their specialty. This specifically will be for the completion of the Hermeus 'Quarterhorse' demonstrator. "Speed is our lifeblood at Hermeus, and I’ve been impressed with the ability of the team at RTX Ventures to embody that virtue. We look forward to expanding collaboration and continued acceleration of our vision for a faster future," said Hermeus CEO AJ Piplica.
  2. Quarterhorse will be remotely piloted and all the information gathered during testing will be utilized to formulate a closer to life-size hypersonic jet called 'Darkhorse' and finally step up to 'Halycon', the final form factor of the Hermeus hypersonic project. The Quarterhorse demonstrator is expected to make its first flight in 2023 where it will be utilized to test speeds between Mach 3 and Mach 5. The Quarterhorse has already been flying 'virtually' in simulation with in-house made avionics to de-risk the real avionics setup in the future. Ratheon RTX Ventures has not said how much the partnership is worth but Hermeus recently secured 100 million in series B funding.
