IS&S Autothrottle; SVS Upgrade Green-lighted By FAA For Eclipse 500/550s Innovative Solutions & Support (IS&S) has been given the nod by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to upgrade the Eclipse 500 and 550 models with the Synthetic Vision System and Autothrottles. The upgrade package from IS&S has now allowed Synthetic Vision on the PFDs (Primary Flight Display) of the Eclipse 500/550. On the other hand the autothrottle can be utilized to approaching minimums. Further, the autothrottle upgrade improves the shutoff switch, making it with a dedicated switch.
"IS&S is excited to support Eclipse owners and operators with this upgrade and greatly appreciates their continued enthusiasm and input," says IS&S director of autothrottle programs Tom Grunbeck. Software upgrades that provide improved presentation of performance and situational data displayed on cockpit instruments, as well as on the pilot’s EFB. They include: Map airspace labeling upgrade, ethernet initialization upgrade, EFB rendering performance upgrade, Fly By/Fly Over logic upgrade, 2.7.8 software upgrade to 2.7.10. Even though this aircraft is out of production it is good to see upgrades being made available for the aircraft particularly in the cockpit.
