  1. Learjet 40/5; Honeywell Upgrade Gets STC
A Honeywell upgrade (featuring the Primus Elite Advanced Features) for the LearJet 40/45 model has been given a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It now allows for the original CRT monitors in the cockpit to be replaced by DU-875 LCD screens. There are many advantages to upgrading to the new displays. The old CRT monitors are very heavy, the LCD screens will save seven pounds of weight per screen over the old technology. The LCD screens provide clarity and are brighter.
  2. With the upgrade pilots will be able to combine the optional XM Weather with the new screens to get real-time weather updates along their specific route or in the destination. This is particularly helpful for territory that isn't too familiar. The upgrade is not just specific to the Learjet 40/45 but has been STC'd on the Embraer Legacy 600/650, Cessna Citation X and 550/60, the Global Express from Bombardier, the Dornier 328 and even the Dassault Falcon 900EX/C models.
