  1. Stratos 714 Moves Towards Next Flight Test Phases
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has opened the envelope for further testing of the Stratos 714 light jet. Since making its first flight back in late November the aircraft has flown around 33 flights accumulating approximately 42 hours. Stratos said, “the company test pilot reported good handling with the sidestick controls and was impressed with takeoff and climb performance.”
  2. As a result of the good feedback so far the FAA has lifted restrictions on the program allowing it to progress into the certification stages. The company is taking its time with the program to ensure they get everything right. They have not even taken any orders for the aircraft as yet saying that they will wait closer to certification to do so. So far the aircraft has flown to 17,000 feet and operated at a speed in the region of 320 knots. The aircraft is earmarked for a 400 knot speed with a 1,500 nautical mile range. The next phases will not be easy though as the certification process is very expensive.
