  1. Textron Aviation Suspends Citation Hemisphere Program
The Safran Silvercrest bug has bitten another budding developmental program. This is the same engine manufacturer that has experience consistent issues with the new Silvercrest powerplants that were billed to power a couple new business jets. The Dassault Falcon 5X was to be powered by these engines but due to the persistent issues with the engines Dassault was forced to shut down the 5X program. Since then, they have launched a new Falcon 6X program with Pratt & Whitney PW800s.
  2. Textron Aviation appears to have taken the decision to 'suspend' the Citation Hemisphere program. Textron chairman and CEO Scott Donnelly, announced during an investor's call this morning that the manufacturer needs to address "engine issues before moving forward." The Citation Hemisphere was a huge leap for Cessna as it put them squarely in the large-cabin market to compete with bigger names like Gulfstream, Bombardier and Dassault Falcon. The engine issues could provide Textron Aviation with the reason to 'kill' the program completely or they could do what Dassault did and re-engine with P&W. Either way this is a development that needs to be watched closely.
