Decertification Threats To All Bombardier Global Aircraft The Canadian business aviation industry has now been targeted by the United States Government with the threat of the revocation of Type Certification approvals for all Bombardier Global aircraft. The U.S President suggests that Canada via Transport Canada has been sluggish to certify the Gulfstream G500, G600, G700 and G800. The threat of decertification of Global models that already have Type Certification from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) would be disastrous for the flying public that utilizes this form of transport.
In a Truth Social post, the U.S President said, "Canada is effectively prohibiting the sale of Gulfstream products in Canada through this very same process". He continued, "if, for any reason, this situation is not immediately corrected, I am going to charge Canada a 50% Tariff on any and all aircraft sold into the United States of America." This is the latest facet of thawing relations between the United States and Canada.
Bombardier reminded the U.S of its impact and contribution to the local economies where they are set up. Bombardier issued a statement pointing out that it has 3,000 US employees spread across 9 US facilities, one of which, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, it has announced plans to expand. It also said it has 2,800 US suppliers.
In response, Bombardier said it has taken note of the post and is in contact with the Canadian government. "Thousands of private and civilian jets built in Canada fly in the U.S. every day,” the Montreal-based airframer said. “We hope this is quickly resolved to avoid a significant impact on air traffic and the flying public." "We have taken note of the post from the President of the United States to social media and are in contact with the Canadian government".
