Last Scheduled Gulfstream G550 Delivered To USAF The United States Air Force Airlift has taken delivery of its last scheduled Gulfstream G550 or as it is known in the air force as the C-37B (Gulfstream G550). The force has A variants (Gulfstream V) too with 16 of them comprising of that designation. The C-37B will be tasked with United States Vice President and cabinet-level official travel. The C-37B can provide secure communication via the L3 Harris system and it is a long-range large cabin jet.
Although the G550 has now ended commercial production since last year, there are still special missions versions of the aircraft which will still be acquired by governments and militaries. Gulfstream has delivered more than 200 special mission G550s around the world to date. That last C-37B aircraft was given the tail number of 1941. This is in honor of the year the Tuskegee Airmen were founded. Honorary Tuskegee Airman and Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. CQ Brown had said of the delivery, "I’m humbled to not only be asked to deliver this aircraft but to be a red jacket wearer and now to be a red tail flyer." At the end of January 2020, the USAF awarded a USD 127,4 million contract to Gulfstream Aerospace for the delivery of two C-37B aircraft. Later on, Gulfstream then brought them up to the C-37B baseline with communications upgrades through L3 Harris, for a total of USD 159 million.
