  1. New 'VALO' Unveiled By Vertical Aerospace
Vertical Aerospace is among the top contenders in the eVTOL space in the Western hemisphere and they have been busy developing their eVTOL which has been known as the VX4. However, The company recently revealed a brand new looking eVTOL called the 'VALO' -the successor to the VX4-. The VALO is essentially the result of feedback from future operators and airlines plus the real world data garnered from the VX4 program so far. Below showcases the new VALO design.
  2. The VALO will now build upon the success of the VX4 which has been in active flight testing since 2022. At this stage, Vertical Aerospace is targeting 2028 for service entry. Vertical has suggested that the initial premium version of the passenger cabin will feature four seats. However, there will be options to add two more seats depending on the application of the aircraft. Additionally there will be space next to the pilot for what the company terms “an observer.” On the passenger side, each one is expected to be able to carry one checked bag and a smaller bag 'carry-on' onboard. Below showcases the VX4 design for comparison.
  3. What is radically different about the VALO vs the VX4 that we have been accustomed to seeing? The changes to the design center around efficiency. New propeller architecture, redesigned body for better aerodynamics, the wing has also been redesigned and there is an under-floor battery system. They already have a slew of specialist partners who will manufacture different parts of the aircraft. For example, Aciturri for aerostructures related work. Honeywell is onboard to develop the avionics and flight control systems for the VALO. Most recently, a company called Syensqo is now expected to be a supplier of lightweight composite materials for the airframe.
  4. “With the launch of Valo, Vertical moves from prototype developer to aerospace manufacturer,” said Vertical CEO Stuart Simpson. “Valo is the aircraft that turns electric flight into a commercial reality—clean, quiet, fast, and engineered for everyday service. It marks a new dawn in transport, one that will connect people in minutes, not hours.” It is expected the VALO will have a 100 mile range and fly at around 150 mph
