  1. Volocopter Focusing On Approving Slimmer VoloXPro eVTOL
German eVTOL enterprise Volocopter has been hard at work trying to certify their eVTOL. However, back in 2024 the company was facing bankruptcy issues and those endeavours were stalled. https://www.jetforums.net/threads/n...ol-company-enters-insolvency-protection.4987/ . The overall VoloCity program is now making its way back on track since being acquired by the Chinese parent company of Austria-based Diamond Aircraft back in March 2025.
  2. Essentially, the Volo XPro is a re-imagined version of the original two-seat Volo 2X eVTOL concept. The slimmed-down variant should allow a bit of an easier path to certification. Volocopter is now going after the 'Ultralight' segment or the Light Sports Aircraft section of the owner-operator general aviation industry. Although this is the aim, the VoloXPro will still be on the upper end of the category with a maximum take off weight of 1,323 lbs.
  3. Despite the aircraft being trimmed down it will still have the same propulsive rotor architecture as the previous version which is 18 rotors. The XPro version will not need to include the equivalent level of redundancy required for commercial certification making the path to approval a bit easier. However, to increase the safety component the 2X’s variant's 60 volt electrical system has been upgraded to 300-400 volts in the XPro so while there isn't the extra redundancy, the electrical system is significantly beefed-up.
  4. For this variant, the XPro is anticipated to hit the market with pricing around €500,000 ($585,000). The order books are expected to open around the middle of 2026. Internal lab development testing on the XPro has been estimated to be in the 60 to 70 percent completed phases. The Volocity variant is also still be worked on and the company is hoping to certify under the EASA SC-VTOL category.
