  1. TTBW Project Moves Ahead To Next Phase
At the start of the year JF wrote an article on a project that Boeing is involved in concerning a new design to an aircraft that is meant for efficiency. It is called the The Transonic Truss-Braced Wing (TTBW) and it is a NASA project that Boeing has taken the lead on. There is some movement forward on this new project and its experimental development. Under development it will be known as the X-66A and this is NASA's first experimental plane focused on helping the U.S. achieve its goal of net-zero aviation greenhouse gas emissions.
  2. Boeing has already acquired an MD-90 aircraft and ferried it to their facility to start the modifications to that aircraft. All indications suggest at this early stage that the Transonic Truss-Braced Wing will fly in 2028. Boeing Chief Technology Officer Todd Citron, commented: "This marks an important step in the Sustainable Flight Demonstrator project, advances Boeing's commitment to sustainability and brings us closer to testing and validating the TTBW design." The donor MD-90 will be significantly modified and will look like the plane in the rendering below.
